Serge Lutens opens in Moscow

The first Serge Lutens boutique at Palais Royal in Paris opened its doors in 1992 and was the first to welcome perfume aficionados.
 Moscow is now home to the second location of Serge Lutens. While the Parisian venue evokes the historical period of the Directory and the Courrier de Lyon case as interpreted by my imagination, the Moscow boutique – located near the Bolshoi – is like an alcove that opens out onto the constructivism and suprematism of the years following Red October.
Black (no surprise there), gold and metal, meticulously hand-engraved… there’s nothing easy about Communist luxury! You’ll find it at number 14 in the very street that housed the perfumery of the erstwhile Romanov dynasty, known as the Whites, at number 10. This boutique, house – call it what you will – heralds the opening of other Serge Lutens symbols and expressions throughout the world.
